the oldest broker in continental europe
When Joachim Johann Wolters was sworn in as a “broker” in 1758 at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, he surely had no idea that his small company would still exist 250 years later. Today, eight generations later, the GGW Group is the oldest insurance broker in continental Europe. The brokerage house has lived through a sizeable chunk of Hanseatic, German and international history. And anyone spending time on the floor of the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg as part of a discovery tour, will still find many traces of this tradition today.
